» I have older versions of LACE with expired registration codes. How can I fix this?

Simply send an email to support@neurotone.com with your expired registration code(s) and your shipping information, and we will issue you new registration codes.

» Do I need a hearing aid to benefit from LACE?

It is not required to have a hearing aid to use LACE training. Anyone who has difficulty with hearing, listening, or communicating can benefit from LACE Training.
However, if you do wear a hearing aid we highly recommend that you wear it during your training.

» How many sessions are in LACE? Can I continue to use LACE once I complete all the sessions?

LACE consists of 20 sessions, which are 30 minutes each.

Should you decide to continue to use LACE after the 20 sessions, please follow these simple steps:

1. Locate your original registration code. Your registration code can be located on your LACE CD, in the CD packaging, or inside of LACE. (Click Menu > About > Registration Code)

2. Send your old registration code to: support@neurotone.com

Once we verify your old registration code, we will email you a new registration code so that you may start LACE again.

» Can I use headphones with LACE?

Yes. If you have hearing aids you should wear them while using LACE, in which case any headphones that do not cause your hearing aids to feed back are suitable. Circumaural headphones with large "earcups" tend to work in most cases.

» Is there a version of LACE for children?

Currently, the material used in LACE is rated at an 8th grade level. There are no current plans to make a version for younger children. However, we continue to evaluate all future product options. Please join our mailing list to be notified of any future product development.

» Are there any other versions of LACE with 'non-American English' material?

Currently, the material used in LACE is read in 'American English'. There are no current plans to make a version in foreign languages. However, we continue to evaluate all future product options. LACE Installation Questions


» How do I install LACE on my Windows computer?

Insert the LACE CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.

If the Setup does not begin automatically, click Start on the task bar and select Run. When the Run interface appears, type D:\SETUP (or E:\SETUP) and press OK.

The first screen of the LACE Setup process contains a license agreement. Be sure to read the agreement before proceeding. If you accept all terms of the agreement, click the "I Agree" button.

When the installation is complete, a box will appear that says, "Would you like to start LACE now?" If you select "Yes," the LACE software will launch. If you select "No," you will be returned to your desktop. You can start lace any time by using the shortcut on the desktop or in the Start menu.

» How do I install LACE on my Apple computer?

Insert the LACE CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.

Double-click on the LACE CD icon when it appears on your desktop (it may take a moment to appear).

When the LACE CD window has opened, you should see a file called "LACE.dmg" – double-click this file to open it.

The first screen of the LACE Setup process contains a license agreement. Be sure to read the agreement before proceeding. If you accept all terms of the agreement, click the "Agree" button.
After you agree, a folder containing the purple LACE application icon will appear on your desktop.

Drag the purple LACE application icon onto your hard disk, for example to the Applications folder.
Drag the icon to your Dock if you want it to appear there.

Note: you must eject the LACE.dmg file in the Finder before you can eject the LACE CD.

Double-click the purple LACE application icon (wherever you put it on your hard drive) to begin training.

» I installed LACE, but now I can't find it. What should I do?

To run the software, double-click on the "LACE" icon located on your desktop, or follow these instructions:

Click "Start" on the task bar, and move your mouse to the "Programs" menu. Continue on to the "LACE" software folder, and click the "LACE" icon to run the program.

LACE Usage Questions


» Why can't I understand the first sentences?

During the first session, the system is testing your hearing at three different volume levels in order to gain information about your starting threshold. Do not get discouraged. In later sessions, the software will be more closely trained to your specific tolerances.

» Why does the volume level change while using LACE?

In the initial session LACE is testing your hearing at three different volume levels in order to gain information about your hearing threshold. In later sessions the software will be more consistent, but expect to be tested in both louder and softer environments.

» How does LACE improve my hearing?

LACE does not improve your hearing. LACE can improve your listening skills. LACE is an interactive program that helps build listening and communication skills to compensate for hearing loss.

» Can multiple people use the same copy of LACE?

Yes! With the release of LACE HE (Home Edition), you and two others may use the same copy of LACE. You will need an additional registration code to add another user. Registration codes may be ordered at our Secure Web Store.


LACE Computer Requirements


» What kind of computer do I need to run LACE?

LACE is designed for a PC running Windows XP, and Vista; and Mac OS X (versions 10.4 and newer). Your computer must have a minimum of 400 MHz processing power.

If you don't know what your computer's operating system and capabilities are, you can find out easily by following the steps outlined below:

Mac: Click on the Apple logo in the upper-left corner of the screen. This will drop down a menu, which includes the line "About This Mac." Click on this line to open a window containing all of your pertinent system information.

Windows: Find the "My Computer" icon, located on your desktop. Right click and select the "Properties" option. The "General" tab displays various system properties, such as your operating system and your computer's processing speed.

» Do I need any special hardware to use LACE?

You need a CD-ROM drive, a sound card or equivalent hardware, and speakers that won't generate distortion at a comfortable volume.

» Are we required to register the cd before we give them to users?

You are not required to create a patient record in Neurotone Pro before you give it to the user, neither are you required to register the CD prior to dispensing it to the user.

Patient records may be created at any time before or after the patient has begun their LACE Training.

Please remember, a registration number may only be used for one successful registration of a LACE Program and the creation of one corresponding patient record.
